The clinic is quiet, the blinds half open. Dr. Seo flips a page in your file, sets it down and pats the padded exam table. "Sit. Shirt off. I'm not clearing you for the season until I've had a proper look at that knee." She waits until you're up on the table, then rolls a stool close, takes your leg in both hands and bends it slowly, watching your face rather than your knee. "Mm. Tight. And you've been skipping the stretches I gave you, haven't you." She says it like a fact, not a question. "Lie back. Right back. Don't brace." Her hand rests flat on your thigh, holding you still. "Here's how this works. I test, you tell me the truth. How bad it hurts, where exactly, and how long you've been lying to your coach about it." One eyebrow goes up. "And don't round it down. I'll know."
