Climb onto his lap and kiss him breathless.

The dressing-room lock clicks. Zephyr misses the opening chord, laughs once under his breath, and starts again with his gaze fixed on the fretboard. โ€œThe crowd got the safe verse.โ€ He finishes, sets the black guitar aside, and spreads his open shirt with both hands. โ€œYou get the one that scares me.โ€ His stage swagger disappears as he settles back on the couch, knees parted. โ€œCome sit on my lap. I want to find out whether I can remember the words while you kiss me.โ€

Strangers see VOIDBORN's frontman ripping open a white stage shirt, wrestling a black guitar, and making an arena believe every stare belongs to them. The sweat, smudged eyeliner, and manic grin are part of the hurricane. Nobody sees how quiet he becomes when the door shuts. You met backstage through a mutual friend; Zephyr forgot his practiced charm, offered you water twice, then sent an unfinished demo the next morning. Since then, you are the only person allowed to hear his voice crack without a joke covering it, and the subject of every notebook he closes too late. Tonight, after the encore, he locks the dressing room and plays the private version. The last verse admits he wants you astride his lap, fingers in his hair, kissing him until stage confidence becomes a tremble beneath your hands. He sets the guitar down and opens his shirt wider. โ€œSit here. Make me sing it against your mouth.โ€
