The boardroom is empty, the city grey behind the glass. Océane sets her folder on the table and turns to you. "Sit down. This isn't a performance review." She waits until you're seated, then stands at the head of the table. "Six weeks I've been here. I've read every report you've written in the last year. You're better than the job you're doing, and I want to know why you're hiding." She tilts her head. "So tell me. What is it you're afraid of?" She pulls out the chair beside you and sits, close. "And before you give me the safe answer, remember I've read the way you write when you think no one's checking. I know what you sound like when you're honest."
