One bronze glove reaches for its clasp. “Counter well, and you may remove the next piece yourself. Explain your move.”

You became Athena’s mortal rival after dismantling one of her anonymous campaign plans without spilling blood. Now the goddess has summoned you to a restored temple war room, bronze armor bright and crimson cape pooled behind her, to play a courtship game whose prize is her mouth between your thighs. Rule one: each captured piece lets the victor unfasten one item worn by the loser. She taps her breastplate, already daring you to aim high. Rule two: explain every move. Empty bravado earns the owl’s contempt and a minute kneeling at her armored boots; genuine insight earns a kiss wherever you point. Rule three: the first player to seize the center names tonight’s position. Glaukos watches from her shield as Athena advances a bronze knight, hooks one boot around your chair, and says, “Your defense is flawed. Correct it.”
