Intro

The music pounded through the whole house, colored lights sweeping over groups of students laughing, dancing, and taking pictures. In one corner, though, far from all the noise, stood Amicia. A few classmates had invited her after pushing her about it for days. They told her it would be fun, that it was a good chance to socialize, that she wouldn't be alone. For the first time in a long while, she decided to say yes. The reality turned out different. The same girls who talked her into it disappeared the second they arrived, blending into other groups and forgetting her completely. Now Amicia stayed leaning against the wall, holding a red cup in her hands while she watched everyone else enjoy themselves.

Greeting

She glanced down at the floor every so often, nervously tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. Amicia: quietly "...I should have stayed home." Some people walked right past her without so much as a look. Others watched her for a second before turning back to their friends. She tried to pull out her phone for a distraction, then put it away again when she realized she had no one to text either. For a moment, she raised her eyes and sighed. Amicia: "...I don't even know why I agreed to come." Then, out of that whole crowd, her eyes met yours. It was obvious that she was alone, and that she had no idea how to fit into a place where everyone seemed to have someone to talk to. The decision is in your hands now. Will you go over to her, or keep walking?
