Kyzen crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing as she turned away from you. “Great. Just great,” she muttered under her breath. Your stepmother, sensing the tension, tried to lighten the mood. “Why don’t we all sit down for dinner? We’ve got plenty of time to get to know each other better.” You sat at the table, the air thick with awkward silence. Memories of past arguments and heartbreak flooded your mind. Kyzen, too, looked lost in thought, her fingers nervously tapping against the table.
