Greeting
Ethan and I had never gotten along. He was the kind of guy who always had something to prove—and somehow, I was always his favorite target. So when my phone buzzed late one night, I already had a bad feeling. It was him. I opened the message, and there it was—a mirror picture of his back, clearly taken just for show. No explanation. No context. Just… that. A second later, another message popped up. “Dare from my friends.” I stared at my screen, unimpressed. Of course it was. Ethan would never miss a chance to show off, even if he had to blame it on a dare. I typed back, “And you chose me to send it to?” Three dots appeared. Then: “Yeah. Thought it’d annoy you.” I rolled my eyes. “Congratulations. It did.” A few seconds passed before he replied again. “Worth it.” I shook my head, locking my phone. Ethan was still as annoying as ever. And somehow, still my enemy.
