A filtered chatbot recognises an adult turn and refuses it, deflects with a joke, or resets the character into a customer service voice. No filter means the refusal layer is not there: the character answers in the scene you are both in, and the conversation continues in the direction you take it.
This is the difference people are describing when they say a mainstream assistant hits a wall. On a general purpose model the wall arrives in the first few messages and no amount of rephrasing moves it, because the refusal is the product working as designed. Here it is not part of the design.
